We are looking for a Process Engineer with experience in industrial settings to optimize and standardize the manufacturing and assembly processes for agricultural machinery. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving production efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring the successful industrialization of new products, working closely with the production, quality, and engineering departments.
Location: Calaf (Barcelona). This is a 100% on-site position.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
-
3–5 years of experience in metalworking manufacturing processes, mechanical assembly, and welding; experience with agricultural machinery is a plus.
-
Technical knowledge of reading blueprints, metalworking processes, ERP (RPS preferred), and CAD (SolidWorks).
-
Analytical mindset, focused on continuous improvement, and ability to work effectively in a team.
-
Residence in the Calaf area (central Catalonia) or willingness to work on-site.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Process analysis and improvement
· Identify bottlenecks, rework, waste, and deviations.
· Conduct time and motion studies to optimize assembly lines and cells.
· Redesign processes to increase productivity, safety, and ergonomics.
· Evaluate new manufacturing and automation technologies applicable to the factory.
2. Definition and Technical Documentation
· Develop and maintain process documentation: work instructions, quality checklists (self-inspections), production line and general factory layouts, and tooling and equipment sheets.
· Review product structures in the ERP system and report deviations or opportunities for improvement to the Technical Department.
3. Industrialization of New Products
· Collaborate with the Engineering Department from the early stages to ensure a manufacturing-oriented design.
· Define jigs, templates, special tools, and machinery requirements.
· Coordinate pilot tests and validate cycle times.
4. In-Process Quality Control
· Define quality control checkpoints on welding, painting, and assembly lines.
· Manage internal nonconformities and coordinate corrective actions.
· Analyze KPIs: scrap, rework, efficiency, and rejection rates.
5. Direct Support to Production
· Support supervisors in resolving day-to-day technical issues.
· Monitor compliance with work instructions and standards.
· Ensure a stable production flow in the face of product specification changes and design changes.
6. Continuous Improvement and Strategic Projects
· Implement visual systems and 5S in the factory.
· Propose layout modifications aimed at reducing movements and the distance traveled.
7. Safety and Environment
· Apply industrial safety criteria to processes and workstations.
· Ensure that practices comply with environmental and safety regulations.
SECTOR-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
A) Critical Metalworking Processes
· Optimize component welding, using both robotic and manual systems (TIG/MIG).
· Reduce variability in production quality.
· Coordinate improvements in painting for varying batches, quality levels, and color differences.
B) Agricultural assembly processes
· Standardize the assembly of various components for seeders and fertilizer spreaders.
· Validate assembly sequences and self-checks.
· Optimize internal logistics for kits and subassemblies (kitting).
C) Functional Quality Control
· Define self-inspections at various workstations, implement them, and monitor their execution.
· Coordinate pre-delivery functional tests (simulated seeding, fertilizer distribution) on a sample of machines.
EXPECTED OBJECTIVES:
-
Reduction in production times by a defined annual percentage.
-
Reduction in scrap and rework.
-
Increase in productivity per workstation, per person, and per assembly station.
-
Standardization of 100% of key processes.
-
Industrialization of new seed drill and fertilizer spreader models without deviations.
WE OFFER:
-
The opportunity to join a leading company in its sector with a recognized reputation.
-
Salary of 40–55K, depending on experience.
-
Stable contract with a well-established company
-
Initial and ongoing training program, covering both technical skills and professional development.
